Part Time Massage Therapy

A massage therapist earns an hourly income depending on the number of job done. Usually the income is about RM35 to RM60 per hour depending on location. There are different types of massage such as Thai massage, Malay traditional massage, Chinese “Tui Na”, foot reflexology etc

What is the market potential?

If you work in a massage centre, then it will depend on the popularity of the centre. You may get 1 customer per day during week days ( Monday to Friday 7pm to 10pm) and 2-3 customer during weekend ( Saturday and Sunday ). Then your potential income could go up to RM25 x 10 ( 10 customer per week ) x 4 ( 4 weeks a month ) = RM1,000.00

If you decided to do it on your own at RM40 per hour and you manage to get 4 customer a week ( 2 for weekdays and 2 for Saturday and Sunday each ), then your potential income is RM40x 4 = RM160.00 per week and RM160.00 x 4 = RM640.00 per month.

How to become a massage therapist?

In order to become a qualified massage therapist, one must attend proper training conducted by a qualified trainer. The person must also be physically strong as a lot of strength is required to perform those massages.

My opinion

Massage therapy is a skill set that you can enjoy for the rest of your life wherever you are.

If this skill compliments what you are doing now (beautician, sport, yoga, gym, etc), then I strongly suggest you take up the skill and the return could be lucrative in long run.

It also depending on people surrounding you, if they are frequently visiting massage centres or SPA for stress relief and health, then the market is readily available for you.
